1. Who this statement applies to

The Spore Patch Ltd
Company no. 17315874 · Registered in England and Wales
2. Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across the public-facing site, the checkout flows for the Journal, Guidebook, gift subscriptions and Spiral Circle membership, and the members' spread chamber.
Design and engineering choices we make on an ongoing basis include:
- Semantic HTML with a single
<main>landmark per page and a logical heading order. - Colour contrast tokens designed to meet AA on our forest-and-gold palette.
- Keyboard-navigable menus, dialogs and forms built on accessible primitives (Radix UI).
- Descriptive alt text for meaningful imagery and empty alt attributes for decorative artwork.
- Visible focus rings on interactive elements and skip-to-content links where appropriate.
- Support for browser text resizing up to 200% without loss of content.
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motionin animated flourishes.
3. Known limitations
We are honest about where we are still improving. As of 4 July 2026, we are aware of the following limitations:
- Some card artwork carries rich symbolic detail that cannot be fully conveyed by a short alt text — we provide a plain-language card meaning alongside every card as an alternative.
- Ambient background animations (mycelium veins, glow pulses) are decorative and marked
aria-hidden, but a very small number of pages have not yet been re-tested with a screen reader end-to-end. - The downloadable PDF Journal and Guidebook are visually designed artefacts. They contain a logical reading order and text layer, but are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. If you need an accessible plain-text or reflowable alternative, please email us and we will send one.
We treat these as bugs and are working through them.
4. How we test
We use a combination of automated tooling (axe-core, Lighthouse) during development, manual keyboard-only checks on new flows, and periodic reviews with screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS/iOS and NVDA on Windows). We are a small team and do not currently commission third-party accessibility audits, but we welcome feedback from anyone who does.
5. Requesting an accessible alternative
If you cannot access part of The Spore Oracle — for example, if a reading, product page or download is not working with your assistive technology — please write to us at hello@thesporeoracle.world with the subject line “Accessibility request”. Tell us:
- The page URL or feature you were trying to use;
- What went wrong (in your own words is fine);
- The browser, operating system and assistive technology you are using, if you know.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility requests within 3 working days and to provide either a fix or an accessible alternative within 20 working days.
6. Enforcement
The Spore Patch is not a public sector body and is therefore not directly bound by the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. However, the Equality Act 2010 requires us to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled users are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. If you believe we have not responded adequately to an accessibility request, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
